I heard of the garden by word of mouth from a friend. It was off Hessel Road, down a neighborhood street in what seemed such an unlikely spot. Others have been coming for years and know better than a newbie like me, where the orange Rhododendrons bloom and the late Azealia give a pink show. That’s not to mention other rare plants, hybridized Rhododendrons and lots of shade-loving species. What a secret he’d shared with me!
Mike Boss is the new owner. He takes his role seriously as the guardian of this truly rare sixty-year-old garden. He walks us on a path on Memorial Day Sunday and shares his dreams for the seven and one-half acres of curated plants and trees.
Listen to Mike tell his story and that of the garden. I felt somehow comforted that the garden had found its way into loving hands and that this secret place will continue to be protected. Come and visit, spread the word and share in the wonder of the world of plants. You can even buy one to take home.
